Shahrazad Preza, a graduate student in the Department of Art & Public Policy, will compete in the $300K Entrepreneurs Challenge on May 5, 2017. Her company, Anudando, is an enterprise with a strong social focus. Anudando stands for “making a knot” in Spanish – a literal and contextual meaning.
Anudando reuses plastic bags (polyethylene-PE) and transforms them into yarn and high quality textiles, preserving dying crafts by giving communities of artisans the opportunity to nurture their own skills and expertise, while diversifying their practice and portfolio, all through environmentally friendly ways of working. Renacimiento is their first and main product line.
(MA Arts Politics student: New York University, USA / BA Public Policy and Public Administration: Universidad Iberoamericana, MX)
Shahrazad is responsible for interacting with and completing all funding applications and potential partnerships. She is a public administrator with experience in project management and development. For the last three years, she has developed and advocated for spaces for public policy and arts collaboration.
The 300K Entrepreneurs Challenge is one of the largest accelerator programs in the world. This year, 186 teams have competed for the $300,000 cash price.
The Challenge is not only about competing; it is a great platform for ideas to materialize into businesses. It guides burgeoning entrepreneurs through boot camps and intense coaching provided by Stern and volunteers.
The FINAL PITCH OFF will take place May 5th, 1 - 8pm at NYU Stern - Tisch Hall (40 West 4th Street)
