Joan Maniego

Assistant Dean of Strategy and Operations

Joan Maniego is the Assistant Dean of Strategy and Operations at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she provides senior leadership across institutional strategy, operational integration, and organizational effectiveness. After twelve years as Chief of Staff, she now serves as a key member of the School’s executive team, guiding long‑range planning, aligning administrative functions with academic priorities, and ensuring that Tisch’s operations meet the highest standards of compliance, operational stewardship, and risk management.

In this role, Joan leads strategic planning and policy development; oversees administrative and operational systems; manages financial and resource planning for the Dean’s Office; and partners with University leadership on matters involving compliance, contract administration, and institutional governance. Her work strengthens the School’s operational resilience, supports a culture of continuous improvement, and advances Tisch’s mission within the broader University.

Since joining NYU Tisch in 2004, Joan Maniego has held multiple leadership roles across Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources and Facilities within Resource Planning and the Office of the Deputy Dean. She was appointed Chief of Staff in 2014. Prior to her move to New York, she built a distinguished career in the financial sector spanning banking, portfolio management, investment banking, venture capital, investor relations, and corporate communications.

She holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Psychology from the University of the Philippines; master certificates in Finance and Organization Management from the Asian Institute of Management and NYU Stern Executive Education; and more recently, an executive business certificate from Oxford University’s Saïd Business School.
