Fran Shea

Adjunct Instructor

Fran Shea is an accomplished executive, educator, and creative leader with decades of experience crafting content and channels in television and digital media. Currently a consultant with expertise in audience building, she is also an adjunct professor at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where she teaches Film Marketing and Distribution.

Fran is best known as the former President of E! Entertainment Television, where she led the network to record profitability and creative prominence. During her tenure at the channel she also served as the founding creative programmer. As such she guided the channel’s brand, production, and content strategy. Additionally she launched the Style Network, and expanded E!’s international and digital businesses, including E! Online.

Before joining E!, Fran spent a decade at HBO, where she began as a producer and creative executive and earned an Emmy Award. During her years at HBO she played a pivotal role in the development of two groundbreaking channels — The Comedy Channel (now Comedy Central) and E! Entertainment Television.

After her success at E!, Fran founded a strategic media consultancy advising global clients including Time Warner/HBO, Viacom, and the international publications HELLO! and ¡HOLA!. She also launched HBOlab, an early digital media incubator later acquired by Break Media.

Most recently, Fran served as EVP of Programming and Marketing at Game Show Network, where she led creative development, audience growth, and brand strategy for six successful years.

At NYU/Tisch, Fran integrates her executive expertise with an academic focus on content marketing and distribution across all platforms. She is a subject expert speaking about creative management, scalable content production, and audience development. Fran holds a Master’s in Media Studies from The New School in New York and a Bachelor’s degree from South.
