Lucy Petropoulos
Department Administrator
Lucy Petropoulos (she/they) is an arts administrator bringing experience from the non-profit performing arts sector to higher education here at NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
Before joining the Dance Department at Tisch, Lucy spent seven years working in general management, event programming, and artist services at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM). Often a point person backstage at BAM's theaters, Lucy supported hundreds of dancers and choreographers during Next Wave Festival seasons and DanceAfrica. While at BAM, Lucy helped program and host value-driven talks, master classes, and literary events with celebrated artists and authors. Their most recent position as BAM's Budgets and Contracts Manager deepened their experience as an arts administrator while organizing the budgets for large-scale mainstage programming and navigating complex tour and partnership contracts. With a diverse skill set from international visa preparation to music licensing, Lucy is passionate about providing accessible arts experiences to audiences and supporting artists in their growing careers.
Lucy graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Hons) from Royal Holloway University of London, where they specialized in flute performance and ethnomusicology. They are a flute player with the Queer Big Apple Corps Symphonic Band, performing seasonal concerts at Symphony Space, and volunteer as the band's membership coordinator. Outside of work and flute, Lucy is a crafting hobbyist and loves experimenting with embroidery, polymer clay, and lino printing.
