Benjamin Freedman

Benjamin Freedman graduated with a BFA in Dance and Psychology from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Following graduation, he went on to perform with The Mark Morris Dance Group, touring internationally and was featured in the PBS Great Performances special  "L'Allegro il Penseroso ed il Moderato" filmed at the Teatro Real in Madrid. 

In addition, he has performed as member of Keigwin + Company, Sean Curran Company, David Parker's The Bang Group, Jennifer Muller/The Works, Peridance Contemporary Dance Company, Third Rail Project's off-Broadway production "The Grand Paradise”, and Company XIV's off-broadway productions “Nutcracker Rouge" and "Boylesque Bullfight." 

He is member of the Metropolitan Opera Ballet, having performed in "Samson in Delilah", "Der Fliegende Hollander", "Turandot" and a danced a soloist role in David McVicar's "Agrippina". In addition he has danced for The Santa Fe Opera, Opera Columbus, Against the Grain Opera Company, and with Opera Lafayette at the Kennedy Center. 

He has presented his choreography at venues across the United States including Arts on Site, WestFest Dance Festival, The Jack Crystal Theater and others. He served as Associate Director and Choreographer for West Edge Opera's production of "Eliogabalo" in 2021.  

Benjamin has led classes in dance technique and somatics internationally. He earned his full-apparatus Pilates certification from the Kane School of Core Integration, and specializes in working with dancers recovering from injuries.
