Crystal Rangel is the Manager of Audio and Moving Image Description for the New York Public Library's Special Collections Processing division. She began her career with NYPL cataloging film and video recordings in various collections held by the Jerome Robbins Dance Division, including materials from Meredith Monk, Ronald K. Brown, National Dance Institute and David Gordon/Pick Up Performance Company. Over her many years with NYPL she has cataloged and managed the description of countless audio and moving image materials in archival collections across many of the library's research divisions. 

She earned her undergraduate degree in Film and Media Studies from the University of Florida, a Master of Arts from New York University's Moving Image Archiving and Preservation (MIAP) program, and a Master of Library Science with an Advanced Certificate in Archives from CUNY Queens College Graduate School of Library and Information Studies.

She teaches Metadata for Moving Image Collections and looks forward to exploring the ever-evolving world of metadata with MIAP students.
