The Earth

NYU Talks

The defining forces of our time–globalization, climate change, terrorism – are also forces of redefinition, requiring us to rethink the ways that human beings have understood, related to, and treated the planet we all share. This panel seeks to convey some of the range and urgency of new approaches to our increasingly unpredictable global condition, in which the fate of our own and many other species may depend on our ability to adapt inherited ideas to emergent – and deeply challenging – realities. Faculty from a range of disciplines (environmental studies, philosophy, art, journalism, theater, and astrophysics) will engage the audience in a conversation about how our work and our lives could be more “earth-minded.”
