Tisch Creative Research is pleased to announce the winners of the 2026 Green Violet Script Call. This year's submissions explored the climate conversation through a range of compelling, original, and formally inventive approaches, from intimate family dramas to speculative narratives. Of the scripts submitted by the NYU community, the three selected by our judges are:
Thank You for Your Service by Lev Brodinsky
After the death of their son in the military, a grieving family in rural Missouri struggles to keep their farm intact while navigating emotional rifts caused by loss and a changing environment threatening their way of life.
Lev Brodinsky is a filmmaker based in New York City. A Fulbright Scholar, he holds an MFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU Tisch and an MFA in Film from Tel Aviv University. His screenplay Thank You for Your Service won the Missouri Stories Scriptwriting Fellowship. His award-winning short films have screened at festivals worldwide, exploring cultural displacement and family relationships within underrepresented communities.
Landed by Becca Carter Freeman
Landed follows a team of ambitious flight attendants in training at Air Free Airlines, whose dreams of a high-flying future are shattered after a deadly accident exposes the dangers of clear air turbulence. As the incident propels the airline into a media storm, they’re forced to choose between loyalty to a corporation built on risk for their own stability or standing up for a safer, more transparent future.
Becca Carter Freeman is a writer, actor, and intimacy coordinator from Georgia, raised in Korea. Her work has been recognized by The Kennedy Center, Screencraft, and Fusion Film Festival, and she is a three-time O’Neill Semi-finalist. She just wrapped her first short, BEDBUG, which she wrote, directed, and stars in!
The Beginning of Devotion by Nina Shakes
At a guest ranch in Northern California, a forest spirit becomes a boy's refuge from his parents' failing marriage – until a wildfire forces a choice between devotion to nature and to the hard work of human connection.
Nina Shakes is a Film and TV Production student at NYU Tisch (Class of 2028). Her interests include writing, directing, sound, and production design. Shaped by the years she spent living in the US, China, and France, Nina’s work offers fabulist and empathetic commentaries on culture, place, and belonging.

In the aftermath of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill, a young woman must figure out how best to protect her family.
Lucy Kuhn is an Austin-born writer based primarily in New York. She is currently pursuing a BFA in Film and Television at NYU with plans to graduate in spring of 2028.
