Rosemary Quinn is an Arts Professor at Tisch School of the Arts and the Director of the Tisch Drama’s Experimental Theatre Wing Studio where she teaches Acting, Self-Scripting and Improvisation. She has lived in New York City’s Lower East Side for many decades working as an actress, dancer, director, teacher, arts administrator and theatrical producer. She worked at Performing Artservices for over twenty years where she met and worked with dozens of groundbreaking artists, including Susan Sontag, Robert Ashley, John Cage, Joseph Chaikin, Kristin Linklater, Richard Foreman, Philip Glass, Molissa Fenley, who significantly inspired her artistic career. As an actress, she originated roles in numerous plays performing and touring with downtown theater companies including Mabou Mines, Talking Band and performing in the live lesbian soap opera Room for Cream by The Dyke Division of Theatre for a Two-Headed Calf. She artistically collaborated with the playwright Jean-Claude van Itallie for decades, including performing in his Sunset Freeway, which was written for her. Rosemary represented the United States as a juror for the 21st Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre. Dedicated to experimental theater, she has recently worked on developing new plays and projects with Tina Satter, Jess Barbagallo, Michele Shay, Kate Benson and Paul Lazar and recently recorded the voice of Helen for the Times Square/UCLA installations of The Plastic Bag Store. Rosemary is a member of The Roy Hart Theatre and teaches Voice and Performance workshops at their center in the south of France in the summers.
