DPI Alum Monique Jaques published in New York Times & Washington Post

Monique Jaques ('08) is an Istambul-based photojournalist whose work has centered around the Middle East and West Africa. Her work recently appeared with long-form articles in the New York Times and the Washington Post.

On assignment for a New York Times op-ed penned by Nicholas Kristof, Jaques traveled to Ganta, Liberia to document a privately-run school called Bridge International Academies. With backers including Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg, it's an experiment in improving access to and quality of education in developing nations. Read the full article.

In a particularly moving piece published in the Washington Post column In Sight, Monique traveled to Haiti to document maternity healthcare and organizations which are working to reduce infant mortality. Her images accompany text by Wendy Galietta. Read the full article
