Artist Hank Willis Thomas, an alum of the Department of Photography & Imaging at NYU Tisch, wrote an article for CNN Style reflecting on the role of public monutments. Hank Willis Thomas has designed multiple pubic art pieces including "Unity" in Brooklyn, "All Power to All People" in Philadelphia, and is currently designing "The Embrace" in Boston dedicated to Martin Luther King Jr. The article entitled "What should our monuments of the future look like?" comes at a time when public monuments around the world have been beomce focal points of protest.
