Photojournalist Bryan Denton, an alum of the NYU Tisch Department of Photography & Imaging, has been shortlisted for the Visa D'Or Prize through Visa Pour La Image for his work documenting the effects of climate change on monsoon season in India for The New York Times:
"India has always relied on the annual monsoon for water, with rains irrigating fields, feeding sacred rivers, and providing a dramatic backdrop for ancient poetry and, in more modern times, for Bollywood films. But climate change is altering the monsoon, making it less predictable, with rainfall events both more intense and intermittent, in an ever-increasing cycle of drought and flooding."
The Arthus-Bertrand Visa D'Or awards the best reporting produced between September 2019 and August 2020. Those named on the shortlist for the award are:
- Bryan Denton for The New York Times: "Drought and Flood in India"
