Hank Willis Thomas and Deborah Willis by Tom Bachtell for The New Yorker

The New Yorker recently published a profile of Dr. Deborah Willis, chair of the Tisch Department of Photography & Imaging and her son Hank Willis Thomas, an internationally acclaimed artist and alumnus of the Department.

New Yorker contributor Julie Belcove penned the piece, which will appear in the April 30, 2018 print edition in The Artistic Life section.

Titled "Growing Up in a Black-History Archive," the profile highlights the role Harlem's Schomburg Center has played in the lives and careers of Willis and Willis Thomas.
