Recitation Contact Hours: 21
Rate of Pay: In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the contact hour rate for this position is $222.27 per contact hour. This contact hour rate is based on the collective bargaining agreement with Local 2110. Recitation leaders will receive additional compensation at a rate of $29.00/hour for lecture attendance and final symposium attendance.
Qualifications: Current PhD candidate in good academic standing in Performance Studies (4th year or above) at NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
Duties: Attend all lectures. Lead discussion sections that will meet weekly. Facilitate discussions and activities that deepen students' understanding of course material. Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.Grading duties, preparation of session activities each week, and meeting with students individually to provide writing assignment feedback and advising during office hours.

Department of Performance Studies, Tisch School of the Arts, NYU In Conjunction with the College Core Curriculum, College of Arts and Science Are you passionate about the arts and eager to share that passion with undergraduate students? The Department of Performance Studies, in collaboration with the College of Arts and Science, is seeking dynamic and engaging PhD candidates (3rd year and above) to serve as Recitation Leaders for the Expressive Culture courses in the 2025-26 academic year.
About Expressive Culture: Expressive Culture is a foundational component of the College Core Curriculum, introducing students to the complexities of artistic expression through one of five media: sounds, images, words, performance, or film. Courses delve into the creation, purpose, and interpretation of art, examining its historical and social contexts.
Positions Available (2):
• Fall 2025: Recitation Leader (Lead Instructor: Misty De Berry)
• Period of the Work Assignment: September 2, 2025 to December 11, 2025
• Spring 2026: Recitation Leader (Lead Instructor: Ann Pellegrini)
• Period of the Work Assignment: January 20, 2026 to May 5, 2026
Responsibilities:
• Lead two recitation sections per semester.
• Facilitate discussions and activities that deepen students' understanding of course

• Encourage critical engagement with art and artistic expression.
• Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
• Grading duties, preparation of session activities each week, and meeting with students
individually to provide writing assignment feedback and advising during office hours.
Qualifications:
• Current PhD candidate in Performance Studies (3rd year or above) at NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
• Strong interest in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Compensation:
• $222.27 per contact hour
• Each recitation section: 21 contact hours
• Total contact hours per semester: 42
