Nathaniel Stern and Prof. Amelia Winger-Bearskin, ITP Alumni, took part of an engaging discussion at the College Art Association featuring prominent artists and scholars, also including Minne Atairu and Sean Fader. The panel explored how digital tools can reshape our understanding of memory, memorialization, and historical narratives.
Each panelist presented on projects that critically examine the ways in which digital technologies, often celebrated for their archival and preservational qualities, intersect with socio-political dynamics, environmental concerns, and cultural erasures. By reimagining how memory is conveyed and reinterpreted through digital mediums, the conversation highlighted how technological practices can both challenge and expand our perspectives on the past, present, and future. Topics included e-waste, queer histories, spiritual practices, and cultural heritage, offering fresh insights into how digital tools can offer alternative ways to remember and reconstruct histories.
