For its first special exhibition of the year, South Korea’s National Science Museum presents “Laboratory from New York (뉴욕에서 온 실험실),” exploring new relationship frontiers made possible by emerging technology. Seven current ITP students - Jiyou Park, Audrey Dahyung Oh, Amelia Seungyeon Yang, Jinhee Shim, Kyung Jin Han, Jenn Wonjung Choi, and Luna Park - are featured, in which they explore how people relate to each other, the society, and the environment differently through technology.
In their work, the artists make creative use of various emerging technologies such as solar and kinetic energy, algorithmic decision making, machine learning models, computer vision and projection techniques, exploring how artistic expression can be married with technology and science. They also host workshops with local youth during the exhibition period on their unique methodologies.
Sukmin Kwon, the Director of the National Science Museum, commented “[Lab from New York] is an exemplary case showing the rich collaboration between the sciences and the arts. The exhibition opens new pathways and conversations about our relationship with new technology.”
The show is currently featured in the Museum’s website, and will be open from January 6th to January 11th, 2026. The exhibit’s official instagram is @labfromnyc.
