The multimedia designer and artist Eric Forman, an alum of the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, is a featured artist in the FUTURE LIFE - FICTION design competition with his work, Dis/Connect. The competition invites the public to vote on their favorite designs. The winners will be considered for an exhibition at FICTION Space's Chelsea, NYC gallery.

The "Dis/Connect Chandelier" casts not only light but unmediated space. Instead of bulbs, it has RF jamming antennae mounted at the end of each arm. All cellular and internet connectivity is disabled for those who sit below it, in a four-foot radius. It offers a new typology of domestic space: one that allows us to decide the kind of engagement we want in our own homes.

FUTURE LIFE is an open design competition hosted by FICTION Space, the world’s only prototype gallery with a curatorial program devoted to science, art + design, and technology. Click below for more details.
