Zoe-Alanah Robert
Class of 2023
Zoe is a Brooklyn-based creative technologist, software engineer, techno-skeptic**,** and educator. She has been programming and teaching others how to code since 2012, most recently lecturing NYU’s Intro to Programming in Python course. She earned a BS + MS from Stanford University (with specialties in Artificial Intelligence + Cybersecurity) in 2018, during which she published satellite computer vision research in the AI, Ethics, and Society sub-conference of AAAI. Since then, Zoe has worked at Google, Yelp, and Meta on content moderation at scale, online news quality, and social good platforms. Currently, Zoe is an Engineering Manager at Column, a public benefit corporation building software to facilitate the public notice process in local newspapers across the US.
Zoe first encountered new media arts during her undergraduate computer science studies, but only began making herself in the last few years. Her work often surrounds the harms of modern technology on individuals and society, woven with her personal experiences of Silicon Valley culture.
