New Forms Incubator: Artist Talks Inbox

Black Metal

Along with ITP Professor Ari Melenciano, artists Jordan Caldwell, Jeremy Kamal, and Kordae Henry make up the New Forms Incubator, Black Metal.

Born as a partnership between Afrotectopia, ITP, and the MIT Space Exploration initiative, the New Forms Incubator spent the last year exploring space life through a Black lens. Now with support from the Ford Foundation the incubator is producing an Experimental Kitchen Table Book to share their research.

Each artist is also offering 30 min office hour sessions to meet with students. Please email mew460@nyu.edu if you are interested in booking a slot with one of the artists.

About the Book
“Black Metal is a story of a new protocol to space.

In near and distant futures, through a transcendental experience, Trainers unlock their human potential by going on an interstellar journey through space and back in hopes of finding peace, realignment and their true selves.

This has culminated into a training manual that combines art and research. The artists have created an experience of grounding through our ancestral roots to help redefine our sense of self. It is a new pedagogy for self.”
