Fireside Chat With Alumni

Join ITP alum Ali Sajjadi ('13), Robert Carlsen ('10) and Gabriela Gutierrez ('12) in a candid fireside chat. We will discuss life after ITP and the challenges of finding a job upon.

We will each talk briefly about our professional experiences and will then open the floor for questions. 

Ali Sajjadi

Ali is an ITP alumn who has had many lives before his current life as a Product Architect for BMW at KBS/Spies. Some of those previous lives include free-thinking world-peace-solving developer, muckraking photojournalist agitator, and product manager of mobile products for "the man".

Robert Carlsen

I’m currently a freelance software engineer based in Brooklyn, NY. I'm keenly interested in health and wellness topics and have deep experience with implementing communications between mobile and wearable devices (specifically with iOS via Bluetooth Smart).

Previously, I was a software engineer at a New York City based startup, Sum, where we were working at the nexus of technology and preventative healthcare. Before that I was at the digital advertising agency R/GA. My principle focus was on building iOS applications, including Nike+ GPS (now Nike+ Running) and Nike+ FuelBand.

Personally, I have a strong interest in mobile platforms and data visualization. I earned a Masters Degree in Interactive Telecommunications from ITP at New York University in May 2010, and have been known, at times, as a designer and educator. I’ve taught at several universities and colleges in the greater Philadelphia area, including The College of New Jersey, Temple University, University of the Arts and Moore College of Art and Design.

Gabriela Gutierrez

Gabriela is a graduate of NYU ITP and NYU Wagner School of Public Service. Her diverse academic and professional background have landed her in a wide range of occupations, from map-making to human resources training to UX design.

She has previously worked at American Express, Amazon, and the UN Foundation. She is originally from Monterrey Mexico.
