ITP/IMA Thursday Night Talks: Noel Joyce

Flier of Noel Joyce

Adventures in Innovation

Do you like magnets?

Do you like Garfield?

How about gardening?

How did Diabetes fix a footpath?

How did a guy in a wheelchair end up on the side of a mountain?

Noel Joyce is a wheelchair user, Industrial Designer, former entrepreneur, attempted Artist and general all round nuisance. He will attempt to answer these questions and more as part of his talk on Adventures in Innovation.

About Noel: When a mountain biking accident ended his career in the military and left him confined to a wheelchair he went back to eduction to study design. This was the beginning of a journey that is still ongoing with no real idea of where or when it will end. Noel views the world through a unique prism having lived part of his life able bodied and part of it with disability. Before his current job at NYU he had his own startups and went on to become head of design at HAX a hardware startup accelerator where he worked with over 200 startups in the areas of robotics, medical devices, consumer products as well as many more.

Adventures in Innovation is the story of his misguided attempts at a career so far.
