Speakers: Neil Harbisson & Moon Ribas

Description: Understanding the inner workings of the mind and how to interface them with computers is quickly becoming a reality. Cyborg Futures, an interactive multimedia platform for Cyborg Labs, introduces audiences to expanded perceptual realms through the art of Neil Harbisson, Moon Ribas, and other cyborg practitioners who are reimagining what it means to be human. This will further Cyborg Labs' mission to support the use of cybernetics as part of the human body and begin to introduce the infinite possibilities for artistic practices utilizing augmented sensory states that confound both an individual’s sense of self and the outside world. There is a rapidly expanding public interest in cyborgism and augmented realities, especially as technology comes closer to delivering increasingly immersive media experiences and advanced brain computer interfaces. Cyborgism looms large in the popular conscious of contemporary society and Cyborg Futures introduces the possibilities of expanded perceptual states rife with creative potential.
