Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program alum Sarah Rebell (Cycle 22) presented 'The Rebecca Luker Oral History Project' at a special event entitled 'Rebecaa Luker's Legacy: Mentorship in Musical Theatre' which consisted of a conversation about the life and legacy of the the beloved Broadway soprano, Rebeccak Luker and her lasting impact on the theater community.
Rebell, who is also both a theatre journalist and historian, presented the special presentation explaining her methodology and findings - particularly in regard to Luker's role as a mentor in the context of the 1994 Broadway revival of SHOW BOAT and beyond. Rebell also led a panel discussion featuring several Broadway sopranos who worked with Luker early on in their careers.
The event took place on September 20, 2023 at the Museum of Broadway in New York City.
