Student Shuli Huang’s short film Will You Look at Me was presented at the 61st La Semaine De La Critique in short film competition and won Queer Palm of Festival de Cannes 2022.

Huang returned to his hometown to make the documentary short, which is his second short film to date. In the film, a long due conversation with his mother dives the two of them into a quest for acceptance and love.

The Queer Palm is an independently sponsored prize for selected LGBT-relevant films entered into the Cannes Film Festival. The award recognizes a film for its treatment of LGBT themes and gleans from among those films nominated or entered under Official Selection, Un Certain Regard, International Critics' Week, Directors' Fortnight and the ACID section.
