Paris-based talent platform Wscripted has unveiled its second Cannes Screenplay List, selecting the latest work from alumni Abbesi Akhamie & Eris Qian.

Part of the English-language selection, here are their projects:

  • In My Father’s House by Abbesi Akhamie: Anna is a young American woman who travels to Nigeria for the first time in hopes of reconnecting with her estranged father. When her father mysteriously disappears on the eve of his wedding day, Anna begins an unexpected journey to find him that also leads to her own self-discovery.

  • Pulling Seedlings by Eris Qian: When an algorithm convinces an ambitious Chinese-American mother that her daughter will never be anything more than average, she explores genetic technology that might eventually create the perfect child. Pulling Seeds is an intimate character drama charting one woman’s revelation of love and acceptance in a data-driven, socially competitive world.

Both of the projects were previously selected for the WIF and Sundance Institute Financing Intensive. Their Wscripted selection marks another powerful showcase of our community’s talent, following last year’s Grad Film-studded Wscritped list.
