Emmy-winning alum Nicole Kassell will direct Amazon’s new "She-Ra" live action series.

According to Variety, “should the new project go to series, it would mark the first live-action adaptation of the She-Ra character. She first debuted onscreen in the animated film He-Man and She-Ra: The Secret of the Sword in 1985 as part of the Masters of the Universe franchise before spinning off into her own cartoon series, She-Ra: Princess of Power.’" Set on the planet Etheria and follows the stories of Adora and Catra, orphans who were raised to be soldiers in the Horde. They are part of an evil army led by Hordak, a tyrannical despot who dreams of conquering the planet.

The series was reported to be in early development late 2021, with plans to have Nicole direct and executive the pilot episode. DreamWorks Animation will serve as an executive producer after recently producing the Netflix animated series.
