‘A Love Song’

‘A Love Song’

Alum Max Walker-Silverman’s A Love Song is in theaters July 29th.

The film, which is Max’s first feature length project, takes place at a remote campground in the Colorado Rockies where two childhood friends, both long-widowed, spend a night together. Faye, played by Dale Dickey (Hell or High Water), bides her time in a cramped camper, catching crawdads and birdwatching by day and gazing at the starry night sky, as she waits to find out if her old crush Lito, played by Wes Studi (Dances with Wolves), will respond to her invitation to join her. Set to the sound of the country music on her AM/FM radio, her modest routine is uninterrupted except for the occasional arrival of a few locals, another pair of campers, or the mailman–who never has a delivery for her.

When Lito, who is navigating his own tentative and nomadic journey across the rugged West, finally arrives, he and Faye approach each other warily, each uncertain of the other’s intentions, and their own. Quietly forging a bond based on their shared loneliness, longing and lost love, Faye and Lito fall into a gentle rhythm as they pass the night in near silence as eloquent as any conversation.

Bleecker Street unveiled a trailer with the announcement, which you can watch here.
