Upon the release of HBO’s new miniseries, Scenes From a Marriage, alumnus Andrij Parekh was praised for his cinematography on the project.

The five-episode limited series starring Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac is a modern adaptation of Ingmar Bergman's classic Swedish series of the same name, centering on Mira (Chastain), a confident, ambitious tech executive left unfulfilled by her marriage, and Jonathan (Isaac), an accommodating, hyper-intellectual philosophy professor desperate to keep their relationship intact.

“With cinematographer Andrij Parekh’s camera fluidly moving from room to room and the production design reflecting subtle and not-so-subtle changes in the house’s interiors over the years, we’re eyewitnesses to the dissolution of a marriage,” wrote The Chicago Times. His explorative techniques are praised across the board: “Cinematographer Andrij Parekh, a veteran of Blue Valentine and its similarly haunting exploration of a romance in decline, prowls carefully and patiently around comfortable spaces adorned in neutral tones…but lets both light and darkness visually clash and compete for attention.”
