Three of the Latino community’s most respected actresses and TV personalities will serve as the judges of the second annual Jeff Lima Production Award at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts – a $10,000 scholarship awarded to a Grad Film Thesis student (or recent alum of the program) whose work advances the Latino image on screen.

Sunny Hostin (The View, Girls Trip), Andrea Navedo (Jane the Virgin, Bright) and Alana de la Garza (FBI, FBI: Most Wanted) will help pick the winner of the scholarship, which began accepting submissions on Dec. 10, 2019. NYU will announce the winner of the award during the spring semester.

“I am thrilled to have the talents of Sunny Hostin, Andrea Navedo, and Alana de la Garza – amazing and talented Latinas – to help us find the best new Latino voices at NYU Grad Film” said Jeff Lima, the grantor of the award who is best known for his roles on the hit shows Chicago Fire and Show Me A Hero.

Now in its second year, The Jeff Lima Production Award was created by Lima with the mission of advancing the Latino image on screen. Last year’s award went to MFA candidate Max Walker-Silverman for his film Chui Boys of Summer, about a group of Guatemalan people living in small town Colorado.

Graduate Film Program thesis students (3rd year and above), and alumni who graduated from the Program within six years (those who graduated after January, 2014), will be eligible for the Award. Eligible NYU Tisch Grad Film alumni interested in applying should email nl45@nyu.edu.  Applications are due February 14, 2020.
