Spike Lee’s David Byrne’s American Utopia: Opening the festival, Spike Lee directs the Broadway-acclaimed “David Byne’s American Utopia,” which played at Broadway’s Hudson Theatre in NYC. The festival said in a statement that “Lee masterfully directs a transformative experience.”

Chloé Zhao’s Nomadland: Starring Academy Award-winner Frances McDormand, this American drama film follows a woman in her sixties who, after losing everything in the Great Recession, embarks on a journey through the American West, living as a van-dwelling modern-day nomad. Written and directed by Zhao.

Reinaldo Marcus Green’s Good Joe Bell: Starring Mark Wahlberg, this drama tells the story of an Oregon father, Joe Bell, who sets out on a walk across America in honor of his son, Jadin. From the Academy-Award winning writing team behind Brokeback Mountain.

The festival runs from September 10-20, 2020.
