MAURO FERNANDEZ

MAURO FERNANDEZ

“ON YOUR RADAR” IS A WEEKLY GRAD FILM NEWS SEGMENT THAT FEATURES A STUDENT PICKED AT RANDOM.

MAURO FERNANDEZ IS CURRENTLY A 3RD YEAR STUDENT AT GRAD FILM. WE ASKED HIM A FEW QUESTIONS, AND HERE’S WHAT HE HAD TO SAY:

Where do you consider home and what is it like there?

Home is Uruguay, where I’m from. Home is time at the ocean, the laughs with my family and the endless conversations with my friends.

What is currently inspiring you as a filmmaker?

I find inspiration in the day to day life, books always spark some things; or traveling and spending some time living a different culture, sharing some time with the people, the nature or just having a walk alone. But often times all of this happens with my eyes closed while listening a great record.

What has been your most rewarding experience at NYU Tisch Grad Film so far?

I came to NYU excited to meet an incredible group of such diverse people. So, in a way I arrived expecting to find amazing experiences with my classmates, making new friends and finding gifted collaborators, and I'm so blessed to have this. But honestly, the faculty & staff, the professors, the commitment the school has going beyond formal education and the dedication to form you not only technically, but as a full person, has gone completely way over my expectations, and it feels amazing. This has been the most rewarding surprise I experienced so far; it makes me proud to be part of this community and it enhances the feeling I had since the very first day of the MFA, that this ride only gets better with time.
