Grad Film community members won in two major categories at the Boston Asian American Film Festival (BAAFF): Best Short and Best Narrative Feature.

Thesis Student Kevin Wang’s Secret Lives of Asians at Night won the Audience Award for Best Short. The film, Wang’s 2nd year film, is a screwball noir in five languages that poses the question, “What does the model minority do after dark?”

Grad Film Alum Sasie Sealy’s Lucky Grandma won Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature. The dark comedy follows an ornery, chain-smoking Chinese grandmother with a small-time gambling habit. “Lucky Grandmother” premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival to critical acclaim.
