Grad Film Alum Rezwan Shahriar Sumit has been selected to participate in Global Media Makers, a Film Independent and U.S. Department of State fellowship program for up-and-coming writers, directors, and producers. Sumit’s second feature “A New Prophet,” about a young techie trying to bring his broken family back together through virtual reality, caught the program board’s attention and earned him this opportunity.  A New Prophet was previously awarded the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation’s $100,000 production grant.

The year-long Global Media Makers program gives its participants the opportunity to learn from entertainment industry professionals. This year’s fellowship begins with a six-week residency in L.A. with such mentors as Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy), Justin Simien (Dear White People), Mary Sweeney (Mulholland Drive), and Bradford Young (Selma).
