Professor Sameh Zoabi’s film Tel Aviv on Fire has just been selected as Luxembourg’s submission for Best International Film for the 2020 Oscars. The film, which Zoabi wrote and directed, was shot primarily in Luxembourg and used a local crew.
Tel Aviv on Fire, a dramedy set in Palestine, follows a young Palestinian man who gets a writing gig on a popular soap opera after a chance meeting with an Israeli soldier. Since its premiere at the 2018 Venice Film Festival, the film has won Best Film and Best Screenplay at Haifa International Film Festival as well as Best Film at the Seattle International Film Festival.
