USING THE DANCE TEACHING VIDEO

  • You can only watch this video TWICE
    • First to learn the combination
    • Second to use as a guide while you record yourself
  • You can only PAUSE or PLAY
    • There is no REWIND or FAST FORWARD
  • Use the music in the teaching video as the music for your own recording
    • If you are using a camera other than your computer's camera, be sure your laptop is positioned close enough to the camera for the music to be heard on your recording

READY TO RECORD?

  1. Set up your camera with proper framing to see your whole body.
  2. Mark the floor with the viewing area to ensure you are always in frame.
  3. Watch the teaching video, pausing when necessary, to learn the combination.
  4. When you are ready, hit RECORD on your camera.
  5. Play the teaching video again. 
    • Practice through the learning segment and then dance along to the combination each time until the video ends.
  6. Open video footage in your editing software.
  7. Choose ONE combination to use for your dance submission.
    • The combination must be ONE TAKE.
    • You may NOT edit together different parts of combinations.
  8. Save this segment of your recorded video as a new file.
  9. Follow the Digital Submission Guidelines to upload your video.

RECORDING YOUR DANCE ROUTINE

Use these free software solutions to easily record and edit your dance performance:
 
For Mac computers

Macs come with the Photo Booth application loaded. Use this app, along with your computer's built-in camera to capture your performance. 

For Windows computers

Some versions of Windows PCs come with Microsoft Movie Maker. If your computer does not have it, you can download here for free: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/get-movie-maker-download.

Web-Based Option

Alternatively, you can use a web-based video recorder such as http://webcamera.io/ to record and save your video via your web browser.
