Transduction - A play by Sam Charney

This summer, Collaborative Arts rising sophomore Sam Charney will premiere a solo performance art piece, "Transduction," at the Denver Fringe Festival.

In this work, Charney asks: We all "know" Transgender people are being indoctrinated into being trans, but what would the indoctrination actually look like? “Transduction” is a look inside what that indoctrination ceremony might look like. The Transgender Alien guides the audience through the experience of being trans until the FBI finds them, and then it all goes astray. Charney invites audiences to experience the world as a transgender person, to celebrate the joys and understand the perils.

Sam is a transgender non-binary youth LGBTQ+ activist who has years of experience with LGBTQ+ lobby day, testifying on LGBTQ+ civil rights legislation, Pride rallies, and speaking nationally on queer and trans issues. Sam uses their voice as an activist to create change through performance art.

The show will take place June 5th through 7th, and more information about attending can be found at the Denver Fringe Festival website.
