Angelic Goldsky

Angelic Goldsky (t[he]y) is a poet, media artist, writer, event producer, curator, musician, theatre artist/clown and multidisciplinary artist currently residing in Tkaronto. With roots in poetry at the forefront and commitment to creative, digital, spiritual, mercy as branches, Angelic's work has been a part of a life-cycle in many contexts, spaces, and communities. Shortlisted in 2024 and in 2023 for the Canadian Spoken Word Award by the League of Canadian Poets and representing Canada in the 2SLGBTQ+ international poetry showcase at the World Championship for spoken word in Brussels, Beligum, Angelic has been steadily creating, sharing, and honouring the breathing legacy of poetry across many stages and pages.
Angelic has collaborated and produced programs with the Museum of Anthropology including Queer Poetic Offering, Awoken Word, and Queer Homelands contemplating diasporic queer and trans lives and pathways to self-remembrance through music, prayer and poetry. The former TD Public Programmes and Learning Fellow at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Toronto, and the former Performing the Jewish Archive Fellow at Concordia University and the Canadian Jewish Archives, Angelic's work spans research, curation, and archival resurgence with a commitment to the mystical, delightful and painfully/beautifully true.
Angelic worked at the UBC Arts and Culture District for four years where they founded the ARTIVISM festival of Creative Resistance, and contributed in artistic programming to the UBC Pride Festival among many other arts initiatives. Their collaborative work Trancestor AI, a transgender spiritual ancestor poetry machine learning creation (2021-2024), was developed in residency at the Factory Media Centre and was presented across Canada, as well as part of a public art program in conjunction with Seattle Pride and Future Arts. Later their exhibit Stealth Codes was presented as part of the Queer Arts Festival merging poetry with augmented reality imagining what trans (in)visibility in public space mirrors or resists online world protected hyper-visibility.
They co-devised, wrote, GAY ANCESTORS, which work in progress show debuted in 2024 at the Stand Festival at Presentation House Theatre with their collective of diasporic bbs, queer soul poets. In 2021 they co-founded the Trans Expressions Haven, a transgender, non-binary, queer arts techno-ritualistic venue, virtual art gallery, focused on ceremony and celebrating the creativity beyond all binaries. A trained mikveh guide, water ritualist, oracle leader, post-Soviet Jewitch, and a complex trauma informed facilitator in training, Angelic incants at the crossroads of transmuting complex trauma into permanent liberation, magic, water and laughter.
