Angelic Goldsky

Angelic Goldsky (they/them) is a queer non-binary trans Russian, Ukrainian, Jewish spoken word poet and media activist. As an educator and advocate for justice surrounding issues in media, queerness and transness, Angelic has performed and facilitated workshops across North America.
Angelic dominantly creates work around manifesting new cultures of nurturance in regards to gender, sex and sexuality. In 2020, they released two debut audio spoken word collections dealing with diaspora, queerness and forgiveness, “After Consent” and “Becoming, like a cruel timer”. One of their tracks, "Entropy of Forgiveness" was the winner of the Adobe Project 1324 Inspire Mental Wellness Award.
Angelic has developed programs in partnership with The Museum of Anthropology, Cinevolution Media Arts, Jewish Queer Trans Vancouver and Everybody Is In Downtown Eastside, working in establishing collective and strengthened responses to crisis, growth and artistic power. After being awarded a Creative City Spark grant, they mentored a group of 30 youth to establish a poetry press celebrating healing and justice through multimedia creations.
At the University of British Columbia, where they completed their undergraduate degree, they have worked in developing community cohesion with the UBC Bachelor of Media Studies program and The UBC Arts and Culture District, where they founded the Artivism: Festival of Creative Resistance and co-curated UBC’s 2SLGBTQQIA+ Pride Festival. Throughout their studies, they developed research projects on the representations of sexual violence within news broadcasts as well as the oppressive algorithms dictating Google Images.
Angelic Goldsky is a white settler who grew up on the unceded lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), and Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) peoples.
