Drama Therapy Session with Courtney DePasquale

Join NYU Tisch Alumni Relations, the Tisch London Alumni Club, and NYU trained Drama Therapist Courtney DePasquale (STEIN) in a first of its kind event: a drama therapy session with your fellow alumni around the world.

Drama therapy uses theatre techniques to facilitate personal growth and promote mental health - and we thought this would be the perfect time for you to try it out! At the center of drama therapy is creativity and play, making it an especially meaningful practice for our alumni from Tisch School of the Arts. Some of the techniques used in drama therapy include role-play, theatre games, mime, puppetry and improv. In this interactive session, Courtney will lead a group activity to help you work through some of the stresses and anxieties you may be feeling in this moment (whether COVID related or not!) while connecting with your fellow alumni from around the world. Courtney has lead similar sessions in the past, with corporate groups (such as American Express) and school groups around the US to help ignite creativity and develop personal and professional growth amongst her clients. We are excited for her to share her practice with our alumni community!

There will be limited spots available for this exciting workshop - don’t miss out! We kindly ask that you do not RSVP if you don’t think you can make it, so as to not take someone else’s spot. We will be asking all participants to reconfirm their place 24 hours prior to the event so please keep an eye on your email.

What you’ll need:

 - A solid internet connection with access to a webcam and Zoom

 - A somewhat quiet space

 - Drawing materials (paper and pens/pencils/markers/crayons/etc)

 - Your creative self!

About Courtney:

Courtney DePasquale, MA RYT is a creative arts therapist, improvisor, yoga instructor, and reiki practitioner.

After studying improvisational theatre in college she discovered that she had gained confidence and creative problem solving amongst many other adaptable life skills.  Her desire to share the transformative power of play led her to NYU where she studied and received a masters in Drama Therapy.

As movement and connection are key components of improv adding yoga and reiki to her professional skillset was a natural compliment.  Courtney’s integrated approach utilizes body, mind, and community to develop personal and professional growth for those who have the opportunity to participate in her workshops.
