The winners of the 93rd annual Academy Awards were announced live in person last night on Sunday, April 25th in Union Station in LA, a railroad terminal built in 1939.
NYU Tisch School of the Arts was thrilled to celebrate director, screenwriter, and producer Chloé Zhao (Kanbar Institute, Graduate Film) and producer Mollye Asher ('99 (BFA, Drama)/ '14 (MFA, Kanbar Institute, Graduate Film) for winning the Academy Award for Best Picture for Nomadland. Zhao is also the first woman of color, first Chinese woman, and second woman ever to win an Academy Award for Best Director.
