Producing Essentials
Richard Perello has been producing studio and independent feature films, projects for network and premium television and serving as an executive in the entertainment industry for over 25 years.
He has produced for Warner Bros under a 3 year term deal, Fox Searchlight, Paramount, Comedy Central, HBO, Netflix, Showtime, Amazon, AMC, A&E, Hulu, Nickelodeon, MTV, NBC Television, CNN, National Geographic, Bravo, Discovery, Vice, FacebookWatch, the Coca Cola Company, Blue’s Clues, and Saturday Night Live. Mr. Perello's films have screened and garnered numerous awards at festivals worldwide including Sundance, Berlin, Venice, Toronto, Cannes, London International, New York, SXSW, Hot Docs, Belfast and Hamptons International Film Festival.
Mr. Perello recently produced Broken Lizard’s Super Troopers 2, having produced all of the Broken Lizard comedy group’s films (Super Troopers, Club Dread, Puddle Cruiser, Beerfest, The Slammin Salmon, and Broken Lizard Stands Up) and is head of Broken Lizard Industries.
As Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Production for Alex Gibney’s acclaimed and award-winning Jigsaw Productions, Mr. Perello oversees the production for all of Jigsaw’s film and television projects and the company’s finance and business operations. He is an Executive Producer on numerous productions including Dirty Money, The Family and Salt Fat Acid Heat for Netflix, The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley, Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind and Rolling Stone: Stories from the Edge for HBO, The New Yorker Presents for Amazon, Death Row Stories, Elian and Steve Jobs: The Man In the Machine for CNN, Parched for National Geographic, The Clinton Affair and The Killing Season for A&E, Hip Hop: Songs That Shook America for AMC, Why We Hate for Discovery and Enemies: The President, Justice & the FBI for Showtime.
In addition to his entertainment related experience, Mr. Perello’s financial industry experience as an investment banker includes working with the New York firms Kidder, Peabody & Co and Benedetto, Gartland; Company in mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance. Mr. Perello is an adjunct professor at Columbia University and NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
