Charlie Rubin

Charlie Rubin has been a TV writer and producer for two decades. Recently, he spent 2004-09 as Supervising Producer of Law & Order: Criminal Intent where he wrote ten episodes. He moved to TV drama from comedy staffs: Seinfeld, In Living Color's first season, The Jon Stewart Show, and numerous pilots, including his own. He has worked with Norman Lear, Lorne Michaels, Carol Burnett, The Wayans Brothers, Larry David, Dave Attell and William Finn in musical theater. Currently he's writing a feature about surfing for Robert Chartoff Productions (The Right Stuff, all the Rocky movies, Enders Game) based on his New York Times Magazine article. At the Tisch School of the Arts' Department of Dramatic Writing, he created and runs the popular TV Writing Concentration. Active in admissions (undergrad and grad). He taught TV at Tisch Asia in Singapore (three times ), in Chiangmai, and at Columbia University summers '14 and '15. Elected three times to the Writers Guild, East, Council. He also reviews for The New York Times Book Review: mainly thrillers and espionage.
