In December, after being postponed due to Covid, the Studio Museum of Harlem’s Artists-in-Residence for 2019-20 at last opened their group exhibition This Longing Vessel at MoMA PS1. As two of the residents make performance central to their work — the third is a painter — this invites a set of questions which, present before the pandemic, are more urgent since.
