Why are you pursuing the MA Media Producing?

I have loved films, music, musical films, and theatre since I was a child. I would often annoy my family by singing around the house constantly, always reenacting scenes from films, and making my siblings act out my plays. Outside my home though, I was an introvert and a quiet observer. And from an early age, I began to sense the power of good visual storytelling – the power to change minds and influence people. Stories allow people to travel, to dream, to be inspired and feel all kinds of emotions, without leaving their seats – whether through commercials, music videos, documentaries, film, or theatre. The Arts have always my first love; even when I went to university to study Engineering, I kept my creative skills alive by organising shows and singing in them and doing drama in my spare time. Most importantly, a little cinema in Bath called “The Little Theatre”, became my second home and safe place. I want to develop my producing skills to stay abreast with our ever-changing industry. As an Actor, I have been privy to the importance of collaboration, and now training in Media Producing, will help me to understand how to merge the “art” with the “business”. At a time when the world is changing so much, up is down, down is sideways, and various projects are constantly fighting for our attention, people need good storytelling to help them rediscover themselves, to reinvent themselves, to stay centred, to play, and most importantly to live.
