Ashley Chu
MA Media Producing Class of 2028

Hometown: Taipei, Taiwan

Quirky and driven - you have come to the right profile! Ashley is a 29-year-old artist manager and producer who worked at CAA in comedy touring, record labels, and produced indie shorts plus broadcast series. She is an American Taiwanese and had her critical film/tv education from Boston University. During the COVID period, she used the unfortunate laid-off time to pursue music business and paralegal degrees at UCLA. Throughout her 20s, she has been travelling around the world taking up different gigs in LA, London, Taipei... to name a few. As she currently resides in Melbourne, Australia, she already has plans to establish more creative opportunities for talents and cannot wait for what the future holds.

Why are you pursuing the MA Media Producing?

It is simply because I want to grind and create. From developing new ideas and dealing with hundreds of contracts - I find joy in seeing projects come to fruition. For me to become a well-rounded producer, I want to utilize NYU's connections in all kinds of media while sharpening my skills in all aspects of content making. Digital media is dominating entertainment consumption while traditional cinema holds a historical prestige. I want to learn and combine both ways to create what is satisfying for both creators and audiences.
