​Khanye Mfeka is a South African actor, producer, multidisciplinary media professional, and entrepreneur from Johannesburg. His artistic foundation was established at the National School of the Arts, where he majored in Dramatic Arts, before earning a Bachelor's degree in Media Studies & African Languages Literature from the University of the Witwatersrand and a Master’s degree in Media Producing from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Currently, he is the founder and executive producer of Mfeka Media, a youth-driven production company with the core mandate of rewriting the African narrative through animated film and television productions.

Why did you pursue the MA Media Producing?

​I pursued the MA in Media Producing because it offered the flexibility to study remotely through one of the most prestigious institutions on the planet, while collaborating with storytellers from across the globe. I also wanted to be part of something groundbreaking as a member of this degree's inaugural cohort.

Please tell us about your real-world application of the learnings and skills you developed in the MA Media Producing program?

​I constantly draw on the leadership skills honed in the program. The MA Media Producing taught me how to effectively merge bold creative visions with actionable business strategy. I apply this daily by maintaining rigorous attention to detail and managing strict deadlines to ensure that every project is executed efficiently and sustainably. Whether I am guiding cross-functional teams or executing marketing rollouts, the practical frameworks I developed at Tisch allow me to push artistic boundaries without ever sacrificing the creative vision.

What are you working on now/what's coming up for you?

I am currently producing on a slate of original, African animated productions, including The Joburg Cousins, Detective Magwinya, as well as High Happenings At The Harambe Hotel through my production company. In addition to that, I am looking forward to visiting new worlds and breathing life into new characters as an actor.
