The For Freedoms' 50 State Initiative billboard project is well underway throughout the country and in its ranks are some familiar names and works from members of the DPI community, both faculty and alumni. More than 300 artists have designed billboards in each of the 50 states, that encourage political participation ahead of the November midterm elections.
Founded in 2016 by artists Hank Willis Thomas and Eric Gottesman, For Freedoms is a platform for creative civic engagement, discourse, and direct action. They are a hub for artists, arts institutions, and citizens who want to be more engaged in public life. The 50 State Initiative is the largest creative collaboration in U.S. history. More than one million people have engaged with For Freedoms both in local communities and online.
We are less than a week away from midterm elections so your participation is needed more than ever! Check out the gallery, visit ForFreedoms.org, and most importantly--GO VOTE!
cit.i.zen.ship: reflections on rights, an exhibition in collaboration with For Freedoms' 50 State Initiative is on view in our galleries until January 18, 2019.
