DPI First-Year Carlos Hernandez in YoungArts' Primetime: A Virtual Photography Exhibition

Tuesday, May 19, 2020

Carlos Hernandez — first-year in the Department of Photography & Imaging, Gordon Parks Scholar, and winner of the 2019 YoungArts Award in Photography — is part of YoungArts' "Primetime: A Virtual Photography Echibition." The exhibition opening will take place on Thursday, May 21 at 1pm ET/10am PT at youngarts.org and will include a virtual tour and artist Q&A with curator Luisa Múnera.

We are navigating through one of the most precarious times in modern history, individually and together. A global pandemic, economic recession, and rising unemployment occupy our minds. Primetime is a virtual photography exhibition featuring the works of 11 YoungArts alumni that explores current affairs, disease, race and representation, body image and heritage. Originally intended to be on display at the YoungArts Gallery, the show takes on new meaning as the world continues to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic.
