Congratulations to PS Ph.D Candidate Xiao Liu who received a GSAS Predoctoral Summer Fellowship!
Xiao shared how this fellowships will support her research, "My dissertation investigates the concept of "mou", referring to the intertwinement of bodily mobility in dance and everyday life, examining how art and mundane space, labor and capital intersect in the city of Guangzhou. Through specific curating and performing works, I explore how these material practices draw and erase borders within both the urban core and its peripheral regions. The GSAS Summer Fellowship will allow me to extend my fieldwork from Guangzhou to Taiwan, where I will access relevant archives of modern dance activity and engage with prominent scholars in the field. This support is vital for the mid-stage development of my research."
