Performance Studies alum Masi Asare's (Ph.D. '18) new musical, The Family Resemblance was selected for development during The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's 41st National Music Theater Conference in Waterford, Connecticut.

During the conference, which runs June 23–July 13, each musical will undergo the O’Neill’s signature development process, employing professional creative and support staff, including directors, music directors, dramaturgs, performers, and orchestrators, to bring these new works to life.

Since its founding in 1978, the National Music Theater Conference has developed more than 120 new musicals, including early works of Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tom Kitt, Andrew Lippa, Tan Dun, Robert Lopez, Duncan Sheik, Kirsten Childs, Adam Gwon, Steven Sater, Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Maury Yeston, and Jeanine Tesori.

Casting and creative teams will be announced in the coming weeks. For more information visit theoneill.org
