University Professor Diana Taylor

University Professor Diana Taylor has been elected as an International Fellow of the British Academy, the UK’s national academy for the humanities and social sciences. Election to the International Fellowship is the highest honor that the Academy confers on non-UK residents in recognition of their scholarly distinction.

The Academy recognized Professor Taylor for her exploration of performance practices throughout the Americas and her institution-building (the Hemispheric Institute) that convenes scholars, artists, and activists to explore creative pathways to urgent social issues. Taylor served as the Founding Director of the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics from 1998 to 2020. The Hemispheric Institute brings scholars, artists, and activists from throughout the Americas to work and think together.

Her commitment has always been to open spaces for creative and scholarly interactions and collaborations.
